{"cve":"CVE-2019-16772","nvd":{"published":"2019-12-07T00:15:11.090","modified":"2026-06-17T02:22:46.280","status":"Modified","description":"The serialize-to-js NPM package before version 3.0.1 is vulnerable to Cross-site Scripting (XSS). It does not properly mitigate against unsafe characters in serialized regular expressions. This vulnerability is not affected on Node.js environment since Node.js's implementation of RegExp.prototype.toString() backslash-escapes all forward slashes in regular expressions. If serialized data of regular expression objects are used in an environment other than Node.js, it is affected by this vulnerability.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/commenthol/serialize-to-js/commit/181d7d583ae5293cd47cc99b14ad13352875f3e3","https://github.com/commenthol/serialize-to-js/security/advisories/GHSA-3fjq-93xj-3f3f","https://github.com/commenthol/serialize-to-js/commit/181d7d583ae5293cd47cc99b14ad13352875f3e3","https://github.com/commenthol/serialize-to-js/security/advisories/GHSA-3fjq-93xj-3f3f"],"products":["serialize-to-js_project:serialize-to-js"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:59:27.069234358+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2019-16772","score":0.00646,"percentile":0.50977,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-3fjq-93xj-3f3f","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-3fjq-93xj-3f3f","summary":"Cross-Site Scripting in serialize-to-js","modified":"2026-07-08T06:00:32.942609251Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"serialize-to-js","purl":"pkg:npm/serialize-to-js","ranges":["<3.0.1"],"fixed":["3.0.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
