The email module wrongly parses email addresses that contain multiple @ characters. An application that uses the email module and implements some kind of checks on the From/To headers of a message could be tricked into accepting an email address that should be denied. An attack may be the same as in CVE-2019-11340; however, this CVE applies to Python more generally.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-20"],"references":["http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-10/msg00062.html","http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-10/msg00063.html","http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-11/msg00012.html","http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-11/msg00021.html","http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2020-01/msg00040.html"],"products":["canonical:ubuntu_linux","debian:debian_linux","fedoraproject:fedora","opensuse:leap","oracle:communications_operations_monitor","oracle:peoplesoft_enterprise_peopletools","oracle:solaris","oracle:zfs_storage_appliance_kit","python:python","redhat:software_collections"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:58:39.700375520+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2019-16056","score":0.0512,"percentile":0.92327,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
