{"cve":"CVE-2019-14359","nvd":{"published":"2019-08-12T23:15:11.397","modified":"2026-06-17T02:18:16.637","status":"Modified","description":"On BC Vault devices, a side channel for the row-based SSD1309 OLED display was found. The power consumption of each row-based display cycle depends on the number of illuminated pixels, allowing a partial recovery of display contents. For example, a hardware implant in the USB cable might be able to leverage this behavior to recover a data value. In other words, the side channel is relevant only if the attacker has enough control over the device's USB connection to make power-consumption measurements at a time when secret data is displayed. The side channel is not relevant in other circumstances, such as a stolen device that is not currently displaying secret data. NOTE: the vendor's position is that there is no security impact: the only potentially leaked information is the number of characters in the PIN","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:P/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":2.4},"cwes":["CWE-203"],"references":["https://bc-vault.com/2019/08/our-response-to-cve-2019-14359","https://bc-vault.com/2019/08/our-response-to-cve-2019-14359"],"products":["real-sec:bc_vault_firmware"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:58:11.797917892+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2019-14359","score":0.00423,"percentile":0.36595,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
