{"cve":"CVE-2019-13628","nvd":{"published":"2019-10-03T14:15:11.057","modified":"2026-06-17T02:17:06.743","status":"Modified","description":"wolfSSL and wolfCrypt 4.0.0 and earlier (when configured without --enable-fpecc, --enable-sp, or --enable-sp-math) contain a timing side channel in ECDSA signature generation. This allows a local attacker, able to precisely measure the duration of signature operations, to infer information about the nonces used and potentially mount a lattice attack to recover the private key used. The issue occurs because ecc.c scalar multiplication might leak the bit length.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":4.7},"cwes":["CWE-203"],"references":["http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2019/10/02/2","https://eprint.iacr.org/2011/232.pdf","https://minerva.crocs.fi.muni.cz/","https://tches.iacr.org/index.php/TCHES/article/view/7337","http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2019/10/02/2"],"products":["wolfssl:wolfssl"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:59:10.855360465+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2019-13628","score":0.0038,"percentile":0.31993,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-q95h-vc86-hv77","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-q95h-vc86-hv77","summary":"wolfCrypt leaks cryptographic information via timing side channel","modified":"2026-07-07T11:56:31.306586815Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"wolfcrypt","purl":"pkg:pypi/wolfcrypt","ranges":["<4.1.0"],"fixed":["4.1.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-1066","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-1066","summary":"wolfCrypt leaks cryptographic information via timing side channel","modified":"2026-07-07T11:45:36.876574658Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"wolfcrypt","purl":"pkg:pypi/wolfcrypt","ranges":["<4.1.0"],"fixed":["4.1.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
