The attacker provides a pair of a regex pattern and a string, with a multi-byte encoding that gets handled by onig_new_deluxe(). Oniguruma issues often affect Ruby, as well as common optional libraries for PHP and Rust.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-416"],"references":["https://github.com/kkos/oniguruma/commit/0f7f61ed1b7b697e283e37bd2d731d0bd57adb55","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2019/07/msg00013.html","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/JWCPDTZOIUKGMFAD5NAKUB7FPJFAIQN5/","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/SNL26OZSQRVLEO6JRNUVIMZTICXBNEQW/","https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/201911-03"],"products":["canonical:ubuntu_linux","debian:debian_linux","fedoraproject:fedora","oniguruma_project:oniguruma","php:php"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:57:00.690689396+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2019-13224","score":0.04047,"percentile":0.90631,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
