To succeed, certain conditions need to be fulfilled: The jail (with the exploit code inside) needs to be started as root, and it also needs to be terminated as root from the host (either by stopping it ungracefully (e.g., SIGKILL), or by using the --shutdown control command). This is similar to CVE-2019-5736.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.1},"cwes":[],"references":["https://github.com/netblue30/firejail/issues/2401","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/CDY7B73YDRBURA25APSHD5PFEO4TNSFW/","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/RGVULJ6IKVDO6UAVIQRHQVSKOUD6QDWM/","https://github.com/netblue30/firejail/issues/2401","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/CDY7B73YDRBURA25APSHD5PFEO4TNSFW/"],"products":["firejail_project:firejail"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:57:00.690689396+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2019-12499","score":0.02024,"percentile":0.80991,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
