This leaves open the possibility of a denial of service type attack, where a malicious user crafts a message containing a very large number of message attachments. From the 3.3.4 and 3.2.11 releases, a default limit of 50 message attachments is enforced. This is configurable via the message property \"attachment-max-count\".","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["http://cxf.apache.org/security-advisories.data/CVE-2019-12406.txt.asc","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r36e44ffc1a9b365327df62cdfaabe85b9a5637de102cea07d79b2dbf%40%3Ccommits.cxf.apache.org%3E","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r92238967ba2783d3ab5a483f2e17f5fdaa8ace98990f69f9e8e15de0%40%3Cissues.cxf.apache.org%3E","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/rabc395b38acb7f2465bfbf0bc16d6e1e95720c89bea87abe8808eeea%40%3Cissues.cxf.apache.org%3E","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/rb2a6dab1f781f55326543c56dc29ea677759439ddfeba920c83037e6%40%3Cissues.cxf.apache.org%3E"],"products":["apache:cxf","oracle:commerce_guided_search","oracle:flexcube_private_banking","oracle:retail_order_broker"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:59:25.448946135+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2019-12406","score":0.06257,"percentile":0.93565,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-58p8-9g59-q2hr","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-58p8-9g59-q2hr","summary":"Potential DOS attack due to unrestricted attachment count in messages","modified":"2023-11-08T04:01:04.355351Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.cxf:cxf","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.cxf/cxf","ranges":["<3.2.11"],"fixed":["3.2.11"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.cxf:cxf","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.cxf/cxf","ranges":[">=3.3.0 <3.3.4"],"fixed":["3.3.4"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.cxf:apache-cxf","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.cxf/apache-cxf","ranges":["<3.2.11"],"fixed":["3.2.11"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.cxf:apache-cxf","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.cxf/apache-cxf","ranges":[">=3.3.0 <3.3.4"],"fixed":["3.3.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
