{"cve":"CVE-2019-11730","nvd":{"published":"2019-07-23T14:15:16.653","modified":"2026-06-17T02:13:31.300","status":"Modified","description":"A vulnerability exists where if a user opens a locally saved HTML file, this file can use file: URIs to access other files in the same directory or sub-directories if the names are known or guessed. The Fetch API can then be used to read the contents of any files stored in these directories and they may uploaded to a server. It was demonstrated that in combination with a popular Android messaging app, if a malicious HTML attachment is sent to a user and they opened that attachment in Firefox, due to that app's predictable pattern for locally-saved file names, it is possible to read attachments the victim received from other correspondents. This vulnerability affects Firefox ESR < 60.8, Firefox < 68, and Thunderbird < 60.8.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":[],"references":["http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-07/msg00055.html","http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-07/msg00058.html","http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-08/msg00073.html","http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-10/msg00009.html","http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2019-10/msg00010.html"],"products":["debian:debian_linux","mozilla:firefox","mozilla:firefox_esr","mozilla:thunderbird","opensuse:leap","suse:package_hub"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:58:11.797917892+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2019-11730","score":0.20271,"percentile":0.97472,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
