{"cve":"CVE-2019-10743","nvd":{"published":"2019-10-29T19:15:16.610","modified":"2026-06-17T02:11:35.127","status":"Modified","description":"All versions of archiver allow attacker to perform a Zip Slip attack via the \"unarchive\" functions. It is exploited using a specially crafted zip archive, that holds path traversal filenames. When exploited, a filename in a malicious archive is concatenated to the target extraction directory, which results in the final path ending up outside of the target folder. For instance, a zip may hold a file with a \"../../file.exe\" location and thus break out of the target folder. If an executable or a configuration file is overwritten with a file containing malicious code, the problem can turn into an arbitrary code execution issue quite easily.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/mholt/archiver/pull/169","https://snyk.io/research/zip-slip-vulnerability","https://snyk.io/vuln/SNYK-GOLANG-GITHUBCOMMHOLTARCHIVERCMDARC-174728%2C","https://snyk.io/vuln/SNYK-GOLANG-GITHUBCOMMHOLTARCHIVERCMDARC-174728","https://github.com/mholt/archiver/pull/169"],"products":["archiver_project:archiver"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:59:25.448946135+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2019-10743","score":0.06352,"percentile":0.93641,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-h74j-692g-48mq","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-h74j-692g-48mq","summary":"Path Traversal in MHolt Archiver","modified":"2025-01-14T07:56:51.026896Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/mholt/archiver","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/mholt/archiver","ranges":[">=3.0.0 <3.3.2"],"fixed":["3.3.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
