The floppy driver will copy a kernel pointer to user memory in response to the FDGETPRM ioctl. An attacker can send the FDGETPRM ioctl and use the obtained kernel pointer to discover the location of kernel code and data and bypass kernel security protections such as KASLR.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-200"],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:2029","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2019:2043","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2018/10/msg00003.html","https://lkml.org/lkml/2018/3/7/1116","https://usn.ubuntu.com/3695-1/"],"products":["canonical:ubuntu_linux","linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:48:50.842038930+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2018-7755","score":0.00676,"percentile":0.52256,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
