A specially crafted pixel shader can cause remote denial-of-service issues. An attacker can provide a specially crafted website to trigger this vulnerability. This vulnerability can be triggered remotely after the user visits a malformed website. No further user interaction is required. Vulnerable versions include Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (linux 4.15.0-29-generic x86_64), Nouveau Display Driver NV117 (vermagic: 4.15.0-29-generic SMP mod_unload).","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-400"],"references":["https://talosintelligence.com/vulnerability_reports/TALOS-2018-0647","https://talosintelligence.com/vulnerability_reports/TALOS-2018-0647"],"products":["canonical:ubuntu_linux","nvidia:geforce_gtx_745_firmware","nvidia:geforce_gtx_750_firmware","nvidia:geforce_gtx_750_ti_firmware","nvidia:geforce_gtx_840m_firmware","nvidia:geforce_gtx_845m_firmware","nvidia:geforce_gtx_850m_firmware","nvidia:geforce_gtx_860m_firmware","nvidia:geforce_gtx_950m_firmware","nvidia:geforce_gtx_960m_firmware","nvidia:grid_m30_firmware","nvidia:grid_m40_firmware","nvidia:quadro_k1200_firmware","nvidia:quadro_k2200_firmware","nvidia:quadro_k620_firmware","nvidia:quadro_m1000m_firmware","nvidia:quadro_m1200m_firmware"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:55:22.313337056+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2018-3979","score":0.01429,"percentile":0.73012,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
