In order to be impacted, the same private key for an honest issuer and a malicious user must be used when signing JWTs. In that case, a malicious user could fashion signed JWTs with the malicious issuer URL that may be granted for the honest issuer.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","score":7.4},"cwes":["CWE-345"],"references":["https://pivotal.io/security/cve-2018-15801","https://pivotal.io/security/cve-2018-15801"],"products":["vmware:spring_framework"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:54:36.112582389+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2018-15801","score":0.00653,"percentile":0.51284,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-27xw-p8v6-9jjr","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-27xw-p8v6-9jjr","summary":"Spring Security vulnerable to Authorization Bypass","modified":"2024-03-14T21:16:03.663372Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.springframework.security:spring-security-core","purl":"pkg:maven/org.springframework.security/spring-security-core","ranges":[">=5.1.0 <5.1.2"],"fixed":["5.1.2"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.springframework.security:spring-security-oauth2-jose","purl":"pkg:maven/org.springframework.security/spring-security-oauth2-jose","ranges":[">=5.1.0 <5.1.2"],"fixed":["5.1.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
