This is because the older stored password file was not deleted when the data was copied to a new format starting in Firefox 58. The new master password is added only on the new file. This could allow the exposure of stored password data outside of user expectations. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 62, Firefox ESR < 60.2.1, and Thunderbird < 60.2.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-522"],"references":["http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/105276","http://www.securitytracker.com/id/1041610","http://www.securitytracker.com/id/1041701","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:2834","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:2835"],"products":["canonical:ubuntu_linux","debian:debian_linux","mozilla:firefox","mozilla:firefox_esr","mozilla:thunderbird","redhat:enterprise_linux_desktop","redhat:enterprise_linux_server","redhat:enterprise_linux_server_aus","redhat:enterprise_linux_server_eus","redhat:enterprise_linux_server_tus","redhat:enterprise_linux_workstation"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:53:59.789560037+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2018-12383","score":0.0046,"percentile":0.39922,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
