{"cve":"CVE-2018-11772","nvd":{"published":"2019-07-29T19:15:10.980","modified":"2026-06-17T01:36:33.790","status":"Modified","description":"Apache VCL versions 2.1 through 2.5 do not properly validate cookie input when determining what node (if any) was previously selected in the privilege tree. The cookie data is then used in an SQL statement. This allows for an SQL injection attack. Access to this portion of a VCL system requires admin level rights. Other layers of security seem to protect against malicious attack. However, all VCL systems running versions earlier than 2.5.1 should be upgraded or patched. This vulnerability was found and reported to the Apache VCL project by ADLab of Venustech.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.2},"cwes":["CWE-89"],"references":["https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/a468c473b4c418307b9866fe4c613630a2efc46bed53438b6af1f55c%40%3Cdev.vcl.apache.org%3E","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/ffde9f87d0730ba6d4e1242eda56c1f1d6d0802ee4eda36fc1be3aaa%40%3Cannounce.apache.org%3E","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/a468c473b4c418307b9866fe4c613630a2efc46bed53438b6af1f55c%40%3Cdev.vcl.apache.org%3E","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/ffde9f87d0730ba6d4e1242eda56c1f1d6d0802ee4eda36fc1be3aaa%40%3Cannounce.apache.org%3E"],"products":["apache:virtual_computing_lab"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:58:11.797917892+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2018-11772","score":0.01356,"percentile":0.71638,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
