The VMX code does not restore the GDT.LIMIT to the previous host value, but instead sets it to 64KB. With a corrupted GDT limit a host's userspace code has an ability to place malicious entries in the GDT, particularly to the per-cpu variables. An attacker can use this to escalate their privileges.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-665"],"references":["http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/104905","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:2390","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:2391","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:2392","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:2393"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel","redhat:enterprise_linux_desktop","redhat:enterprise_linux_server","redhat:enterprise_linux_server_aus","redhat:enterprise_linux_workstation"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:52:03.425131697+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2018-10901","score":0.0052,"percentile":0.44192,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
