The issue was caused by attempting to process an unbounded number of pending VLAN authentication requests, leading to excessive memory allocation. This issue only affects devices configured for DHCPv4/v6 over AE auto-sensed VLANs, utilized in Broadband Edge (BBE) deployments. Other configurations are unaffected by this issue. Affected releases are Juniper Networks Junos OS: 15.1 versions prior to 15.1R6-S2, 15.1R7; 16.1 versions prior to 16.1R5-S1, 16.1R6; 16.2 versions prior to 16.2R2-S2, 16.2R3; 17.1 versions prior to 17.1R2-S5, 17.1R3; 17.2 versions prior to 17.2R2.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:A/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["http://www.securitytracker.com/id/1040184","https://kb.juniper.net/JSA10834","http://www.securitytracker.com/id/1040184","https://kb.juniper.net/JSA10834"],"products":["juniper:junos"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:47:56.471723566+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2018-0006","score":0.00668,"percentile":0.51939,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
