{"cve":"CVE-2017-9803","nvd":{"published":"2017-09-18T21:29:00.280","modified":"2026-06-17T01:28:57.220","status":"Modified","description":"Apache Solr's Kerberos plugin can be configured to use delegation tokens, which allows an application to reuse the authentication of an end-user or another application. There are two issues with this functionality (when using SecurityAwareZkACLProvider type of ACL provider e.g. SaslZkACLProvider). Firstly, access to the security configuration can be leaked to users other than the solr super user. Secondly, malicious users can exploit this leaked configuration for privilege escalation to further expose/modify private data and/or disrupt operations in the Solr cluster. The vulnerability is fixed from Apache Solr 6.6.1 onwards.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-287"],"references":["http://mail-archives.us.apache.org/mod_mbox/www-announce/201709.mbox/%3CCAOOKt53AOScg04zUh0%2BR_fcXD0C9s5mQ-OzdgYdnHz49u1KmXw%40mail.gmail.com%3E","http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/100870","http://mail-archives.us.apache.org/mod_mbox/www-announce/201709.mbox/%3CCAOOKt53AOScg04zUh0%2BR_fcXD0C9s5mQ-OzdgYdnHz49u1KmXw%40mail.gmail.com%3E","http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/100870"],"products":["apache:solr"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:46:01.145313090+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2017-9803","score":0.02194,"percentile":0.82466,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-f553-j2gv-g5r9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-f553-j2gv-g5r9","summary":"Apache Solr Kerberos delegation token functionality flaws","modified":"2023-11-08T03:59:29.806050Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.solr:solr-core","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.solr/solr-core","ranges":[">=6.2.0 <6.6.1"],"fixed":["6.6.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
