For OpenSSL 1.1.0, the crash can be triggered when using CHACHA20/POLY1305; users should upgrade to 1.1.0d. For Openssl 1.0.2, the crash can be triggered when using RC4-MD5; users who have not disabled that algorithm should update to 1.0.2k.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-125"],"references":["http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2017-0286.html","http://www.debian.org/security/2017/dsa-3773","http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/security-advisory/cpujan2018-3236628.html","http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/security-advisory/cpujul2017-3236622.html","http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/security-advisory/cpuoct2017-3236626.html"],"products":["nodejs:node.js","openssl:openssl"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:42:28.077359912+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2017-3731","score":0.57322,"percentile":0.99076,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
