By inspecting the token value provided in a password reset link, a user can leverage a weak PRNG to recover the shared secret used by the server for remote authentication. The shared secret can be used to escalate privileges by forging new tokens for any user. These tokens can be used to automatically log in as the affected user.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.2},"cwes":["CWE-332"],"references":["https://github.com/Kc57/JitBit_Helpdesk_Auth_Bypass","https://packetstormsecurity.com/files/144334/JitBit-Helpdesk-9.0.2-Broken-Authentication.html","https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/42776","https://www.trustedsec.com/2017/09/full-disclosure-jitbit-helpdesk-authentication-bypass-0-day","https://github.com/Kc57/JitBit_Helpdesk_Auth_Bypass"],"products":["jitbit:helpdesk"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:58:11.797917892+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2017-18486","score":0.04807,"percentile":0.91958,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
