When the SSH daemon is enabled for local development, the device is publicly available via IPv6 TCP port 22 over the internet (with stateless address autoconfiguration) by default, which makes it easier for remote attackers to obtain access by guessing 24 bits of the MAC address and attempting a root login. This can be exploited in conjunction with CVE-2017-17878.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":[],"references":["https://blogger.davidmanouchehri.com/2017/12/steam-link-security-remotely-insecure.html","https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steamlink-sdk#ssh-access","https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steamlink-sdk/issues/119","https://blogger.davidmanouchehri.com/2017/12/steam-link-security-remotely-insecure.html","https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steamlink-sdk#ssh-access"],"products":["valvesoftware:steam_link_firmware"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:47:56.471723566+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2017-17877","score":0.04102,"percentile":0.90756,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
