{"cve":"CVE-2017-17704","nvd":{"published":"2017-12-31T02:29:01.550","modified":"2026-06-17T01:11:31.193","status":"Modified","description":"A door-unlocking issue was discovered on Software House iStar Ultra devices through 6.5.2.20569 when used in conjunction with the IP-ACM Ethernet Door Module. The communications between the IP-ACM and the iStar Ultra is encrypted using a fixed AES key and IV. Each message is encrypted in CBC mode and restarts with the fixed IV, leading to replay attacks of entire messages. There is no authentication of messages beyond the use of the fixed AES key, so message forgery is also possible.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H","score":7.4},"cwes":["CWE-330"],"references":["https://systemoverlord.com/2017/12/18/cve-2017-17704-broken-cryptography-in-istar-ultra-ip-acm-by-software-house.html","https://systemoverlord.com/2017/12/18/cve-2017-17704-broken-cryptography-in-istar-ultra-ip-acm-by-software-house.html"],"products":["swhouse:istar_ultra_firmware"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:47:56.471723566+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2017-17704","score":0.00991,"percentile":0.62547,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
