In a ZIP bomb attack, the HTTP server replies with a compressed response that becomes several magnitudes larger once uncompressed. If a client does not take special care when processing such responses, it may result in excessive CPU and/or memory consumption. An attacker might exploit such a weakness for a DoS attack. To exploit this the attacker must control the location (URL) that superagent makes a request to.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.9},"cwes":["CWE-400","CWE-409"],"references":["https://github.com/visionmedia/superagent/issues/1259","https://nodesecurity.io/advisories/479","https://github.com/visionmedia/superagent/issues/1259","https://nodesecurity.io/advisories/479"],"products":["superagent_project:superagent"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:50:40.212176939+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2017-16129","score":0.0174,"percentile":0.7774,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-8225-6cvr-8pqp","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-8225-6cvr-8pqp","summary":"superagent vulnerable to zip bomb attacks","modified":"2023-11-08T03:59:06.560066Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"superagent","purl":"pkg:npm/superagent","ranges":["<3.7.0"],"fixed":["3.7.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
