{"cve":"CVE-2017-15698","nvd":{"published":"2018-01-31T14:29:00.467","modified":"2026-06-17T01:08:06.993","status":"Modified","description":"When parsing the AIA-Extension field of a client certificate, Apache Tomcat Native Connector 1.2.0 to 1.2.14 and 1.1.23 to 1.1.34 did not correctly handle fields longer than 127 bytes. The result of the parsing error was to skip the OCSP check. It was therefore possible for client certificates that should have been rejected (if the OCSP check had been made) to be accepted. Users not using OCSP checks are not affected by this vulnerability.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":5.9},"cwes":["CWE-295"],"references":["http://www.securitytracker.com/id/1040390","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:0465","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2018:0466","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/6eb0a53e5827d97db1a05c736d01101fec21202a5b8fc77bb0eaaed8%40%3Cannounce.tomcat.apache.org%3E","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/ba661b0edd913b39ff129a32d855620dd861883ade05fd88a8ce517d%40%3Cdev.tomcat.apache.org%3E"],"products":["apache:tomcat_native","debian:debian_linux"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:48:34.567387330+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2017-15698","score":0.03527,"percentile":0.89246,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
