{"cve":"CVE-2016-8741","nvd":{"published":"2017-05-15T14:29:00.153","modified":"2026-06-17T00:54:55.573","status":"Modified","description":"The Apache Qpid Broker for Java can be configured to use different so called AuthenticationProviders to handle user authentication. Among the choices are the SCRAM-SHA-1 and SCRAM-SHA-256 AuthenticationProvider types. It was discovered that these AuthenticationProviders in Apache Qpid Broker for Java 6.0.x before 6.0.6 and 6.1.x before 6.1.1 prematurely terminate the SCRAM SASL negotiation if the provided user name does not exist thus allowing remote attacker to determine the existence of user accounts. The Vulnerability does not apply to AuthenticationProviders other than SCRAM-SHA-1 and SCRAM-SHA-256.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-200"],"references":["http://qpid.2158936.n2.nabble.com/CVE-2016-8741-Apache-Qpid-Broker-for-Java-Information-Leakage-td7657025.html","http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/95136","http://www.securitytracker.com/id/1037537","https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/QPID-7599","http://qpid.2158936.n2.nabble.com/CVE-2016-8741-Apache-Qpid-Broker-for-Java-Information-Leakage-td7657025.html"],"products":["apache:qpid_broker-j"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:42:36.429588156+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2016-8741","score":0.06299,"percentile":0.93601,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-8vvh-crqv-jm64","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-8vvh-crqv-jm64","summary":"Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor in Apache Qpid Broker for Java","modified":"2023-11-08T03:58:36.896724Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.qpid:qpid-broker","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.qpid/qpid-broker","ranges":[">=6.0.0 <6.0.6"],"fixed":["6.0.6"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.qpid:qpid-broker","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.qpid/qpid-broker","ranges":[">=6.1.0 <6.1.1"],"fixed":["6.1.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
