{"cve":"CVE-2016-10532","nvd":{"published":"2018-05-31T20:29:01.067","modified":"2026-06-17T00:39:53.360","status":"Modified","description":"console-io is a module that allows users to implement a web console in their application. A malicious user could bypass the authentication and execute any command that the user who is running the console-io application 2.2.13 and earlier is able to run. This means that if console-io was running from root, the attacker would have full access to the system. This vulnerability exists because the console-io application does not configure socket.io to require authentication, which allows a malicious user to connect via a websocket to send commands and receive the response.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-287"],"references":["https://nodesecurity.io/advisories/90","https://nodesecurity.io/advisories/90"],"products":["console-io_project:console-io"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:50:40.212176939+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2016-10532","score":0.02332,"percentile":0.83554,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-q52j-4q2q-hcj6","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-q52j-4q2q-hcj6","summary":"Authentication Bypass in console-io","modified":"2023-11-08T03:58:10.965419Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"console-io","purl":"pkg:npm/console-io","ranges":["<2.3.0"],"fixed":["2.3.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
