{"cve":"CVE-2016-10031","nvd":{"published":"2016-12-27T07:59:00.150","modified":"2026-06-17T00:38:55.337","status":"Modified","description":"WampServer 3.0.6 installs two services called 'wampapache' and 'wampmysqld' with weak file permissions, running with SYSTEM privileges. This could potentially allow an authorized but non-privileged local user to execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges on the system. To properly exploit this vulnerability, the local attacker must insert an executable file called mysqld.exe or httpd.exe and replace the original files. The next time the service starts, the malicious file will get executed as SYSTEM. NOTE: the vendor disputes the relevance of this report, taking the position that a configuration in which \"'someone' (an attacker) is able to replace files on a PC\" is not \"the fault of WampServer.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.0","vector":"CVSS:3.0/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-264"],"references":["http://forum.wampserver.com/read.php?2%2C144473","https://packetstormsecurity.com/files/140279/Wampserver-3.0.6-Privilege-Escalation.html","https://sourceforge.net/p/wampserver/bugs/52/","https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/40967/","http://forum.wampserver.com/read.php?2%2C144473"],"products":["wampserver:wampserver"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:41:25.729257544+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2016-10031","score":0.0115,"percentile":0.66899,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
