NOTE: this issue is reportedly disputed by the Apache Tomcat team, although Red Hat considers it a vulnerability. The dispute appears to regard whether it is the responsibility of applications to avoid providing untrusted data to be deserialized, or whether this class should inherently protect against this issue","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-20"],"references":["http://openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2014/10/24/12","http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2013-1193.html","http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2013-1194.html","http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2013-1265.html","http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2013/09/05/4"],"products":["apache:tomcat","redhat:jboss_enterprise_application_platform","redhat:jboss_enterprise_portal_platform"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:32:06.812358378+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2013-2185","score":0.07199,"percentile":0.94307,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-v6c7-8qx5-8gmp","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-v6c7-8qx5-8gmp","summary":"Deserialization of Untrusted Data in Apache Tomcat","modified":"2024-12-04T05:36:58.235916Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.tomcat:tomcat","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.tomcat/tomcat","ranges":["<7.0.39"],"fixed":["7.0.39"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
