{"cve":"CVE-2013-10053","nvd":{"published":"2025-08-01T21:15:27.290","modified":"2026-06-16T23:50:36.730","status":"Deferred","description":"A remote command execution vulnerability exists in ZPanel version 10.0.0.2 in its htpasswd module. When creating .htaccess files, the inHTUsername field is passed unsanitized to a system() call that invokes the system’s htpasswd binary. By injecting shell metacharacters into the username field, an authenticated attacker can execute arbitrary system commands. Exploitation requires a valid ZPanel account—such as one in the default Users, Resellers, or Administrators groups—but no elevated privileges.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.7},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-78"],"references":["https://github.com/zpanel/zpanelx","https://raw.githubusercontent.com/rapid7/metasploit-framework/master/modules/exploits/unix/webapp/zpanel_username_exec.rb","https://web.archive.org/web/20130617014355/http://forums.zpanelcp.com/showthread.php?27898-Serious-Remote-Execution-Exploit-in-Zpanel-10-0-0-2","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/zpanel-htpasswd-module-username-command-execution","https://web.archive.org/web/20130617014355/http://forums.zpanelcp.com/showthread.php?27898-Serious-Remote-Execution-Exploit-in-Zpanel-10-0-0-2"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:05:46.678065081+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2013-10053","score":0.0172,"percentile":0.7747,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
