{"cve":"CVE-2012-10031","nvd":{"published":"2025-08-05T20:15:34.173","modified":"2026-06-16T23:38:42.510","status":"Deferred","description":"BlazeVideo HDTV Player Pro v6.6.0.3 is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow due to improper handling of user-supplied input embedded in .plf playlist files. When parsing a crafted .plf file, the MediaPlayerCtrl.dll component invokes PathFindFileNameA() to extract a filename from a URL-like string. The returned value is then copied to a fixed-size stack buffer using an inline strcpy call without bounds checking. If the input exceeds the buffer size, this leads to a stack overflow and potential arbitrary code execution under the context of the user.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.6},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-121"],"references":["https://raw.githubusercontent.com/rapid7/metasploit-framework/master/modules/exploits/windows/fileformat/blazedvd_hdtv_bof.rb","https://web.archive.org/web/20100302202333/https://blazevideo.com/help_center/hdtv-help/Technical-Support.html","https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/18693","https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/22931","https://www.exploit-db.com/exploits/23052"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:06:45.861874017+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2012-10031","score":0.01325,"percentile":0.70953,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
