{"cve":"CVE-2007-1692","nvd":{"published":"2007-03-26T23:19:00.000","modified":"2026-06-16T22:38:07.247","status":"Modified","description":"The default configuration of Microsoft Windows uses the Web Proxy Autodiscovery Protocol (WPAD) without static WPAD entries, which might allow remote attackers to intercept web traffic by registering a proxy server using WINS or DNS, then responding to WPAD requests, as demonstrated using Internet Explorer. NOTE: it could be argued that if an attacker already has control over WINS/DNS, then web traffic could already be intercepted by modifying WINS or DNS records, so this would not cross privilege boundaries and would not be a vulnerability. It has also been reported that DHCP is an alternate attack vector.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-16"],"references":["http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/isn/2007-q1/0418.html","http://isc.sans.org/diary.html?storyid=2517","http://news.com.com/Windows+weakness+can+lead+to+network+traffic+hijacks/2100-1002_3-6170229.html","http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934864","http://www.vupen.com/english/advisories/2007/1115"],"products":["microsoft:windows_2000","microsoft:windows_2003_server"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T19:44:49.019236172+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2007-1692","score":0.15718,"percentile":0.96863,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
